A Tennessee woman lost her life in a two-truck crash on July 13, and three other people were hurt in the same accident. The 71-year-old woman was driving a truck and died at the scene. The fatal accident happened as she drove south on a parkway. Her truck was hit by another truck as the driver traveled north. The 39-year-old male driver allegedly weaved into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit her vehicle.
His truck ended up in the center lane while her vehicle ended on the south side of the parkway. He faces possible charges of driving on a suspended license, but there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved.
At least 13 firefighters from two locales had to extricate the accused man and one of his passengers, 34, from his truck. Another passenger, 59, needed physical help to exit the vehicle but was not extricated. The three men were transported by emergency vehicles to one hospital and later transferred to a second medical facility. The condition of the 59-year-old passenger was not immediately available. The driver was listed in critical condition while the 34-year-old passenger was listed in serious condition. The woman who lost her life also needed to be extricated. Local, county and state agencies offered medical help at the accident scene.
When someone loses their life in a fatal car accident, the family members may not realize that they have the right to file a civil lawsuit for possible negligence even if the driver is charged criminally. A personal injury attorney might be able to help family members pursue legal action to hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
